Pimcore: the cataloging environment
Pimcore
Pimcore is an open-source platform for managing media, data, and product information that Promemoria has configured to support the complexity of archival hierarchies and ensure the preservation and enhancement of digital heritage.
The platform is currently available in three specific configurations — Cultural Institutions, Museums, and Works — differentiated by their descriptive schemas (metadata) and by their publication and access methods on the consultation portal (front-end).
Pimcore's operating environment is divided into two main sections:
- Media (Assets): the environment dedicated to Digital Asset Management (DAM). This section retains the standard functionality of the platform, remaining consistent across all software versions. It is responsible for the physical management of files, their organization into folders, and the automatic generation of previews.
- Objects (Data Objects): the area dedicated to descriptive schemas, hierarchical structures, and relationship logic specific to each version (Culture, Museums, or Works). It is here that the user carries out scientific cataloging and creates relationships between descriptive units.
